Bareilly – The auditorium of SRMS Ridhima was alive with soulful melodies on Saturday evening as the institution hosted a spectacular event featuring ghazals and Sufi music. The program, dedicated to spiritual and mystical tunes, saw renowned poets’ compositions being brought to life by the students of Ridhima, their mentors, and guest singers.
The event began with guest singer Dr. Rita Sharma, who performed the ghazal “Simplicity, just look at us, we’ve placed our trust in your promises” with her melodious voice. Following her, student Anshuma Agarwal graced the stage with a heartfelt rendition of “Everyone joined hands with darkness,” captivating the audience with her delicate tones.
Gurushree Sneha Ashish Dubey and Bharatnatyam guru Tanay Bhattacharya also performed their rendition of the ghazal “What do the conscious know, what is the essence of helplessness?” blending classical dance and music beautifully.
Other students, including Shalini Pandey, Swarit Tiwari, and Gauri Goyal, continued the evening with their poignant renditions of famous ghazals like “It bothers me to be but a drop” and “If blood doesn’t flow, the pen can’t translate.” Each performance added a new layer of emotion, showcasing the depth of ghazal music.
The instrumental maestros added to the musical richness with Guru Himansh Chandra and student Shreya Prabhjyot presenting a soulful rendition of “Only your name echoed.” Meanwhile, vocal guru Priyanka Gwal also captivated the audience with “On the string of breaths, I remember the name of my beloved,” alongside student Dr. Anuj Kumar, who joined her for a rendition of “Silent lips and bowed eyes.”
Guru Sneha Ashish Dubey’s performance of “Moula Moula Moula Mere Moula” added a devotional touch to the evening, followed by guest singer Indu Pardal’s soulful rendition of “The era of our love was also a poetic affair.”
The grand finale was delivered by Guru Priyanka Gwal and student Anshuma Agarwal, who sang “Tu Jhoom Jhoom Le” together, leaving the audience swaying to the rhythm of the music.
Throughout the event, the audience was treated to a harmonious blend of instrumental music, with maestros such as Surya Kant Chaudhary (violin), Amarnath and Suman Biswas (tabla), Tukmani Sen (harmonium), Himansh Chandra (guitar), Suraj Pandey (bamboo flute), and Anugrah Singh (keyboard) coming together for a stellar performance.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the founder and chairman of SRMS Trust, Dev Murti Ji, Aditya Murti Ji, Asha Murti Ji, Usha Gupta Ji, Dr. Prabhakar Gupta, Dr. Anuj Kumar, and several distinguished members of the city’s community.
